Renovation in the Bärenloch
Since August 2023, the Bärenloch has been extensively rebuilt and renovated with funds from the “ Social Integration in the NRW Quarter 2018 ” funding program for around 700,000 euros.
The youth development agency surveyed children and young people digitally and analogically about their wishes.
The renovation resulted in an outdoor fitness park with a calisthenics facility (for workouts), slackline and table tennis table.
In addition to the beach playground, a water playground, play equipment for smaller children and a slide have been added. In addition, four new play stations in the southern part of the park make the path more varied, especially for small children.
The barbecue area above the popular dog park has been slightly enlarged, surrounded by round seating blocks and equipped with a swivel grill.
At the edge of the viewing platform and on the shore of the lake, a total of twelve benches invite you to relax.
Signposts and maps to the individual attractions and entrances have been set up within the park. To improve the quality of the stay, 25 trees, almost 100 shrubs and 15,000 daffodil bulbs have been planted in the leisure complex. There are also now 20 new benches and waste bins.
With funds from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia's " Modern Sports Facility 2022 " funding program, a pump track was built on the site of the former dog park on the initiative of the Velo Solingen cycling club . This is an undulating asphalt cycling route that can be used with mountain bikes, BMX bikes, skateboards, inline skates and scooters. The route is designed so that with a little practice it can be ridden without using the bike pedals. In addition to the 650 square meter pump track, there is a "rolling arena" for younger children. The pump track cost around 250,000 euros.
Another new exercise option is a disc golf course. This sports option was developed together with WMTV and is continued to be managed by the club. The cost is 52,000 euros.
